Happy Monday!
The year is flying by and I want to bring you a brief weekly update about what we have going on in Reading and ELA. In Reading class, we are working on Unit 4; in our Florida Ready Workbooks. Please remember since so much of the reading class is done in class, the student's attendance and attention in class is crucial to do well in this class. In ELA class, we are going to be working on a unit on Informative Essay Writing in preparation for the writing FSA. 3rd Quarter Homework Projects will be explained and assigned this week as well. I will post a follow up with details after I have explained it to the students. Please remember you can stay up to date with student grades by logging into Focus (Parent Portal). If you do not already have access, please contact the office for paperwork and log in information for you student. Ms. Hayes Parents, I want to make sure our students have the materials they need to succeed, so I created a request for my classroom at DonorsChoose.org: Getting Focused and Flexible in English Language Arts . https://www.donorschoose.org/project/getting-focused-and-flexible-in-english/2888491/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=sendFriend&utm_campaign=project&utm_term=teacher_3357153&rf=sendFriend-dc-2017-11-project-teacher_3357153&challengeid=20701834 If you chip in to help my students, you'll get awesome photos and our heartfelt thanks. Thanks so much, Ms. Hayes P.S. If you know a business that may want to help our classroom, please pass this along! Reminder-Bloom’s Taxonomy Book Projects are Due 12/13! 1 pt extra credit to turn in on 12/12 and 2 pts extra if you turn it in on 12/11. Make sure to be reading your book & working on these! The due date is now little over one week away! If you plan to be out 12/13, please make certain you turn them in before hand. The days following, 12/14 - 12/20, will be jammed packed with Imagine Character Essays & Mid-Term Exams. Welcome Back!! Reminder-Bloom’s Taxonomy Book Projects are Due Wednesday 12/13/17. Make sure you are reading your books!
Effective starting starting Monday 11/6/2017 - All students do not need to do free reading Journals for the rest of the 2nd quarter. They do, however, need to continue reading a free reading book. If they are reading a Non-Fiction book they should finish it up and begin a Fictional Novel. On Monday I will be introducing a fictional novel free reading book project that must be completed after reading a novel of their choosing. This will be due at the end of the 2nd quarter. I will follow up with more information next week and post project guidelines.
Please remind them that all journals due up until today will still be checked and graded next week! Thanks Ms. Hayes. |
